Out and about: Pingala in the community this quarter
From a NAIDOC Week event in Glebe to a careers panel at UNSW, here's where you might have spotted us lately.
Over the past couple of months, Pingala has been out talking with the community wherever we can find a good conversation about renewable energy. Whether it's a school event, a community event in a pub, or a university careers fair, we've been showing up to share what community energy looks like in practice, and to meet the people who might help build the next project.
Glebe NAIDOC Community Day
We joined the Glebe NAIDOC Community Day at Glebe Public School, an event that brought the local community together to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Glebe is a neighbourhood we know well, as it's where we've been working closely on our Solar for Social Housing project. Days like this are a chance to stay connected to the community we're building for, not just talk at them from a distance.
Electrify the Inner West
Our renewable energy engineer Jasper Webster took the mic at Electrify the Inner West, part of Climate in the Pub, a regular information and discussion night run by Climate Change Balmain Rozelle. Jasper walked the room through the practical side of going electric at home: rooftop solar, batteries, heat pump hot water, induction cooktops, EV chargers, and what's actually involved in getting off gas. It's exactly the kind of grounded, no-jargon conversation we like to be part of, helping people work out what's realistic for their own home.
UNSW Careers with Impact
We also spoke at the UNSW Careers with Impact event, where students were exploring careers that let them do work with real meaning. We talked about the equitable energy transition and how Pingala helps people get hands-on experience supporting renewable energy projects, whether that's through volunteering, project work, or just getting involved in a community energy organisation for the first time. For students weighing up where to put their skills, community energy is a pathway worth knowing about.
